Dear Parents - Can You Believe It?

Our school year end is fast approaching but we are actually quite engaged in so many activities as I am writing to you. It is hard to beleive our school year will end soon. Our students have gained a momentum on working and we just can’t stop….. Here are some special events that we have planned.

Hike at South Mountain Park

We will be hiking at South Mountain, Friday, May 22: We need 6 parent drivers. Our class leaves at 8:20 AM for a short early morning hike. The level is easy. We will have a Ranger guide and after our hike we will go inside to the museum and conservation area to learn more about the history of the area. Join us! We will be back at school by 11:00 AM. Lunch will be our usual class dining.

What to do before the hike: Apply sunscreen before you arrive at school.
Wear sturdy, close toe shoes.
Wear a hat.
Bring a water bottle on a strap.

Calling all Parent Volunteers

Parent Volunteers needed for Classroom deep cleaning and material making.
Wednesday, May 27, all morning. We will be caring for the classroom and disinfecting everything. We are also preparing books and other items for our class. Please sign up in our classroom or call us. Thank you very much.

Water Day at the Park

Water day at the Park, Monday, June 1. We will be walking to 9th Street and Van Buren. Please return the field trip form. Bring a towel and wear shorts and tops over your bathing suit. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen. Lunch will be provided at the park by our dear cafeteria ladies, Ms. Cindi and Ms. Maria. Parent chaperones are needed too.

Third Year Students Present The Second Timeline of Human Beings

A Historical Play will be presented by the third year students on Tuesday, June 2 at 9:00 AM. Each student will be representing a period in history using the Second Timeline of Human Beings. Each student can make an artifact from that era and also wear the clothes of their day. They are currently drafting their information and we will be practicing next week.

Year End GREEN Party

Year end Green Party, Tuesday, June 2. The second year students have planned the menu for our year end party. The theme is “Green”. All foods will be naturally green. We have a sign up on our front door. Please send us a note or sign up in the class. The students are very excited and have also planned their own group games. Of course we will use real plates to help save the environment.

Sushi, rosemary tea, lime Aid, celery, coleslaw, peas, green chile, green apples, nori, green tea mochi, wasabi, salad, guacamole, guacamole chips, rosemary chicken, mustard greens, green grapes.

Science Museum Day

We are going to the Science Museum for the entire day on Thursday, April 30. Our admission fee has been paid by a grant but we need to pay for Imax and the Planetarium. Please send $4 by tomorrow, Thursday with the attached Field Trip form. We are required to pay in advance. This is an exciting opportunity. We will need 6 chaperones. Chaperones’ fee is also $4 each. Although some families may have a science membership, $4 is still due because this is not the museum admission fee. Please let us know if you want to be a chaperone by tomorrow. A Glimpse into Our Montessori Classroom

Our class is doing wonderful work with Montessori lessons. Here is a tiny glimpse. The youngest students are learning about gases. Some children are learning about time zones and how to calculate times with the time zone chart in cities all over the world compared to Phoenix. Our oldest children are learning how to write Haiku and make prisms to display their Haiku. Overall there is a hum of discovery and helpfulness everywhere in our class.

Kudos to the Students in the Biography Book Fair

Congratulations to all of our students who participated in the Biography Book Fair. Interesting, fun, and full of curiosities, this event provided opportunities for public speaking and sharing important parts of our history. The displays were wonderful!
